National Space Facilities Control and Testing Center

is a part of National Space Agency of Ukraine. The Center unifies spacecraft control ground facilities and geophysical status control facilities.

The Center has various ground facilities for telemetry, tracking and command radio links including S-band and also laser tracking.

Present main activities of the Ceter are:

  • Control of spacecrafts of Ukranian and international programs.

  • Control of technical facilities on seismic and other geophysical status of the Ukraine and throughout the world.

  • Radio astronomical, radio interferometer and other experiments for National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The Center started its operation on 4 October, 1957 by reciving signals from the world's first satellite, Sputnik-1.
It also provided radio communications with Y.O. Gagarin, the first cosmonaut on 12 April, 1961,

RT-70 Radio Astronomical Telescope

Since 1978 a large astronomical telescope RТ-70 with a 70m diameter antenna has been operating and participanting in deep space programs. This telescope can also work as a powerful space radar.

The Center is located in Crimea seaside near Eupatoria, Ukraine.
